As you probably already know spam is also a type of canned meat, dating back to
the Second World War (Still available today) – the name here is derived from the
type of meat, Spiced HAM (SPAM).
Back in the 70’s Monty Python ran a TV sketch where someone was trying to order
a meal from a restaurant. The restaurant menu only contained dishes made from spam
and no matter how much the customer protested “But I don’t like Spam!” they were
expected to have it. Throughout the sketch a group of Vikings sang a song with the
lyrics “Spam! Spam! Spam! Spam! Spam!, Spam! Spam! Spam!, Wonderful Spam!”
As the sketch runs on all that can be heard is “Spam! Spam! Spam!” drowning out
all other conversations – something we are all familiar with today’s email problem!
